Hi, I’m Amber Smart.
I founded SmartMetrix because I know what it feels like to sit in a leadership meeting where big decisions need to be made and the data just isn’t helping.
I was employee #6 at YouVersion and part of the original team that launched the Bible App in 2008, helping grow it to over 50 million users. That experience gave me a front-row seat to what’s possible when a mission-driven organization gets its data right. Since then I’ve led data strategy for one of the largest non-profits in the U.S. and worked with 100+ mission-driven organizations across the country.
Today I serve as a fractional Chief Data Officer for mission-driven organizations: a senior voice on your leadership team, without the cost of a full-time hire. I help you choose the questions that matter, find what is true in the numbers, and build AI-ready data foundations so you can stop guessing and lead with clarity. Not by adding more dashboards. By asking better questions and building systems that support how decisions get made.
I’m also passionate about baked goods and still regret the time I lip-synced The Thong Song in front of a crowd of 500. When I’m not helping make the complex more simple, you can find me over-accommodating my four grandbabies.
