Our Story
SmartMetrix is a data strategy consultancy built exclusively for nonprofits and faith-based organizations. Founded in 2013, we help mission-driven leaders build the data foundations they need to make confident decisions and get real value from AI. From small churches to $80M organizations, we've spent over a decade helping leaders move from data chaos to clarity.
Our Approach
We have a responsibility to meet our clients where they are today. This requires us to invest - early and often - in every relationship we build. You’ll find as we get to know you and your organization that we respond with “it depends.” That’s because it does.
We do our best to see the big picture, even when we're discussing immediate needs. If we were to rush to the answer, we end up with more advocacy than inquiry, missing out on a breadth of information. We value asking for problems rather than simply giving you a solution.
That's especially true in a world where AI tools are promising easy answers. The right question still matters more than the fastest answer.
Culture
People over process. Period. When we focus on people first clients, partners, and everyone we interact with, we create space for creativity, collaboration, and fun. We look at problems with and without logic, which lets us find solutions that actually fit. Processes matter, but they're nothing without people.
Founder Story
Hi, I'm Amber Smart. I founded SmartMetrix because I know what it feels like to sit in a leadership meeting where big decisions need to be made and the data just isn't helping.
I was part of the original team that launched the Bible App in 2007, helping grow it to over 50 million users. That experience gave me a front-row seat to what's possible when a mission-driven organization gets its data right. Since then I've led data strategy for one of the largest nonprofits in the U.S. and worked with 100+ churches and nonprofits across the country.
Today I help those same organizations take the next step by building AI-ready data foundations that let leaders stop guessing and start leading with clarity. Not by adding more dashboards. By asking better questions and building systems that actually support how decisions get made.
I'm also passionate about baked goods and still regret the time I lip-synced The Thong Song in front of a crowd of 500. When I'm not helping make the complex more simple, you can find me over-accommodating my four grandbabies.
